George Thorogood!
Well, my wife and I and some of our friends went to see the RocknRoll bad boy George Thorogood over the weekend and I must say, he can still put on a great show. We had floor seats, row ten just left of the centre aisle. Right below the speakers. My eardrums will probably buzz until tomorrow.
So, George had a yound Saskatoon boy open for him, Kyle Riabko I think is his name. Very good guitar player, very into his set. he was fun to watch. Thorogood was set to get on stage around 9:15 pm and I'm pretty sure he was right on time. From the first song, there was joints a blazing in the place. Constantly a scent of the good ol' rock'n'roll marijuana!!! I couldn't help but smile (hehe) The crowd was on its feet to welcome the icon on stage and sat down in the middle of his first tune. But when he started on "I Drink Alone" (I think it was the third or forth song in the set) the crowd got back on it's feet an dstayed standing until way after the forth encore! (yes four!) I think the George was very please with the show. My only beef with the whole thing was his bass player. I can't remeber his name but he is one of the original Destroyers...what a boring pretty boy he is. Just stood there and did very little to entertain the crowd compared to the rest of the band. I understand that they have a heavy schedule (check out their website www.georgethorogood.com/www) to see their tour line up and they have 10-20 shows a month. So I see how maybe they aren't all at their 100% every show...
All in all, a very fun show to go see (Bad to the Bone, One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer, Move it on Over and I Drink Alone were my fav's of the night)
